NEW MEXICO trip
Oct. 12-19 2023
PART 10

US 62 near Victory, Okla.

US 283 uses Main Street in Altus (birthplace of Moon Martin).

Bunker Hill! Like a bunker blast! This is north on US 283 in Altus.

This has to be back on US 62.

Just think, we could have followed US 62 to Kentucky! Instead, we did things the cool people way.

US 62 runs from the Mexican border in El Paso to near the Canadian border in Niagara Falls, logging over 2,200 miles.

The artillery! Doo-do-doo-do-deet-doot, doo-do-doo-do-deet-doot, doo-do-doo-do-deet-doot! This is north on OK 115.

Approaching Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge on OK 115.

Probably still OK 115.

Probably the road to the Wichita Mountains campground. This is one of these October-like scenes like one from my 2021 New Mexico trip.

The campground road again.

There appears to be a small deer at left.

The Blue Bunker conquers Wichita Mountains! This is the campsite where I sliced my finger open on some sharp metal sticking out of a tent pole when I was taking down the tent.

Northeast on OK 49/115. Up ahead is the dam for Lake Jed Johnson. Mount Roosevelt is probably one of the mountains.

Probably OK 49. That could be Mount Scott.

Winding up Mount Scott Road.

Looking southeast to Lake Elmer Thomas.

East to Lake Lawtonka.

Lake Lawtonka with a wind farm barely visible behind it.

I'm guessing the road is OK 49.

We're going through our lakes again as Mount Scott Road spirals up the mountain.

Still going up.

Lake Lawtonka with the wind farm again.

Near the top of Mount Scott.
