MONTANA to ILLINOIS
Sep. 2-5 2010
PART 2

We left off on Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park in Montana.

We're going. To the sun.

Looking down - way down.

But we're still going. To the sun.

Going-to-the-Sun Road again.

Smile, mountain. You're on Candid Camera.

Looking down again!

Going-to-the-Sun Road near Bird Woman Falls.

A waterfall with Going-to-the-Sun Road going across it. It's unclear whether this is Bird Woman Falls.

Another look down, with a creek and Going-to-the-Sun Road to the left of it.

Not a great view here, but a passable one. Remember, we're going. To the sun.

Excitement builds on Going-to-the-Sun Road!

We're driving right through clouds!

And snow!!! It wasn't even Labor Day yet!

The snow lets up a bit.

Going-to-the-Sun Road relaxes into this narrow path. Also, since construction was going on, we're being led by a pilot car up ahead. So you better hope Going-to-the-Sun Road doesn't make you, um, go.

Yet another mountain view.

Looking over at a section of Going-to-the-Sun Road elevated on a rock wall.

Going-to-the-Sun Mountain! At 9,642 feet above sea level, it pibs in a big way, like so many other things we know and love.

Now we're above the clouds!

Going-to-the-Sun Mountain again!

I had some hope that some of the most distant scenery here might be in Canada, but that's doubtful.

Going-to-the-Sun Mountain is seen on the left.

People - always gettin' in the way!
